My Story

A qualified integrative counsellor, I work intuitively with my clients to support and improve their mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. I offer a warm, open and accepting space where there is no place for judgement. I understand what it takes to really feel and face challenges and make changes to experience a better future. Using empathy and attentiveness, together we can explore your past or present trials and work at your pace to see a way forward that meets your needs. Yes, counselling can support you through difficult times, it can also enhance your quality of life.

It was my own experience of the transformational effect of counselling that led me to train as a counsellor myself. Looking back I realise how important it was for me to be able to speak to someone in confidence who accepted me and my story without judgement. I was given the space to just be me, to share my fears, explore my expectations of myself and to reach a place of acceptance.

“I now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.” - Brené Brown

My degree in Religious Studies enabled me to study various world religions, this arose from my interest in exploring what really matters and connects us deep down. I have continued this spiritual journey since finishing my studies. I am drawn to working with the unknown and unseen, using transpersonal therapy I work with those who may be struggling to find purpose in life. I walk alongside my clients to facilitate this exploration and unfolding.

As well as working in private practice I also volunteer for a mental health and wellbeing charity in East Devon. I love walking on the moors and beach, spending time in nature energises and centres me. I have benefitted from practicing meditation and mindfulness in my daily life.

Being present "in the now" can enable us to quieten the noise of looking back with regret and self judgement or looking forward with fear. My use of mindfulness techniques, where appropriate for the client, can also support the process of slowing down our speeding thoughts, noticing where we are holding emotions in our bodies and increasing our awareness of our felt experience. Ultimately practising Mindfulness can help reduce anxiety and stress, giving us a sense of peace.

If my approach resonates with you, please do get in touch. I offer a free introductory session of up to 30mins for us to explore how working together might feel.

More than any qualifications or skills I trust my ability to reach out and begin a therapeutic relationship with you based on mutual human connection.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Counselling (Accredited) and volunteer at a charity in East Devon. I am a Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS), as such I abide by the code of ethics of both of these organisations.

My practice is regularly monitored each month with clinical supervision and I work hard to expand my understanding of new theories and practices through continuing professional development. I also have counselling myself as part of my ongoing personal development and self-awareness. I am insured with Howden Insurance and have a valid DBS certificate.

My training is as an Integrated Counsellor – including Gestalt Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and Transpersonal Therapy. I adapt the way I work to meet the specific needs of each individual and put the client at the heart of my work.

I am also an Association for Counselling & Therapy Online (ACTO) Certified Online and Telephone Counsellor.
